Set a few months after David and Annie broke up. Life goes on... or does it?

I was recently very fortunate to see The Temptations in concert, and as they played Just My Imagination, I thought about how triggering this lovely song is for Moonlighting fans and I decided to right that wrong. This story reimagines Season 5's When Girls Collide, only without a certain cousin of Maddie's whose name we don't like to speak out loud!

A twist on the ending of Lunar Eclipse.

Takes place about 6 months after Lunar Eclipse. A person from Maddie's past seeks the help of the Blue Moon Detective Agency and soon secrets that Maddie never wanted David to know are revealed.

This story was inspired by Glenn Gordon Caron himself, who told us recently in the Moonlighting 40th Anniversary Zoom Reunion that he saw Maddie and David as "end game" but maybe they didn't stay together all these years. Maybe they rediscovered each other in later life. This is a story based on that idea, set in 2014, with 63 year old Maddie Hayes and 59 year old David Addison.

Decades after the end of "Moonlighting" the real Maddie and David have stepped forward to tell the story as they lived it and intended it to be told.

Post-series. Maddie & David are living together in New York City. In this story, Maddie contemplates some of life's decisions, big and small. Will she accept a job promotion that puts distance between her and David? Will she decide to attend Annie's baby shower?

After an enjoyable evening out with Agnes & Bert, David wants he and Maddie to make more "couple friends", so she reluctantly asks her work friend, Timothy, to bring along a date and her and David for dinner one Saturday night.

This story is based on David's rolling in the hay conversation with Maddie in All Creatures Great...And Not So Great. This is David's fantasy dream...

What if Maddie couldn't prove David didn't kill the guy at the end of Witness for the Execution?

The challenge was to write a story that would 1) tell a Season 5 backstory that 2) makes sense of David and Maddie's complicated Season 5 relationship while it also 3) explains why David is so angry and so bitter that he would sleep with Maddie's married cousin Annie, and that 4) did not conflict with anything we see onscreen. The result is this collection of stories.

What would life look like if Maddie stayed married to Walter and David tried to make it work with Terri? This Fanfic explores these relationships and how they affect the dynamic between our favorite couple. Hope you enjoy!
