Arthur Dimmesdale learns of Hester's trial. Overwhelmed with shame, and the internal conflict of whether or not to confess his deed, the pious minister brands his chest in his closet to express his guilt. Inspired by scenes hinted at in The Scarlet Letter, we see the novel from the eyes of Arthur Dimmesdale, as he himself tells the story.

What happened to Pearl? Well, authorities were worried she, a product of adultery, would turn the world upside-down. Pearl did so, in her last days, in a way none of them could have dreamed. All because of a Land Bank and a man - and his cousin - who would grow to do great things. Cross with Historical Fiction in a way :-)

I was there from the beginning. I was orchestrating it all. I was behind every decision that was made. I am the Black Man in the Forest. This is my Story "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne, told through the eyes of the Black Man in the Forest. I do not own "The Scarlet Letter".

In the end of The Scarlet Letter, it doesn't say what happens to Pearl in the end. This is what happened. One-shot This was a school project.

This is just a short fic told from the perspective of the infamous "Black Man" who lived in the forest and represented the devil from Nathaniel Hawthorne's book The Scarlet Letter.

Hester had another secret she never told anyone about- a small little journal, sewn from worn scraps of fabric and stuffed with faded yellow pages. In here she wrote her deepest thoughts. (I had to write this for school and figured I might as well post it.)

An Alternate version of the ending. The original ending left me feeling...unfulfilled. So I wrote this, hope ya'll enjoy the fruits of my labor.

A small story I wrote for an English class, it takes place during Hawthorne's novel but goes a little deeper into the story that Pearl talks about of the accused witch Mistress Hibbins who was said to go out into the forest and meet with the mysterious Black Man and sign her name in his black book.
