My contribution to the Earth's Children series - How was Durc's life like, growing up in the Clan; will he ever see his mother Ayla again, and understand why she never went back to him?

My take on what happened to Durc after Ayla left the Clan forever. This story also takes into the latest findings concerning Neanderthals and their interactions with modern humans.

When Ayla and Jondalar a group of Zelandonii bent on establishing a new Cave, they have no way of knowing that their paths will cross with the child Ayla gave up hope of ever seeing again. Fleeting references to past infanticide and past miscarriage. References to events in CotCB and MH. Ayla/Jondular, Durc/Ura, Durc and Danug friendship.

Durc had learned to navigate Broud's temper; or so he had thought. What he hadn't taken into was his own temper, and that Broud would one day succeed in pushing him to the breaking point. Now that point had been reached, and everything had irrevocably changed.

Iza's magic came from protective spirits who acted through her, but a medicine woman was only an agent of the spirits; a magician interceded directly with them. At least that's what everyone believes, and nobody dares to ask a medicine woman about her business.

An alternative end to the Earth's Children books by Jean Auel that begins around the time that Ayla and Jondalar arrive back at the Zelandonii at the end of 'Plains of age' and largely ignores Books 5 & 6.

What if there was a 7th book in the Earth's Children series? The Sacred Mountain begins 10 years after the The Land of Painted Caves and strives to bring some closure to the series by dealing with some of the questions that were never answered in the original series of books.

Tholie decides to take a Journey to visit her Mamutoi kin, but what happens when direction is lost and she stumbles upon the biggest cave lion in his den? What would it be like for Ayla to find a woman of the Others, before a man?

Similar to Line of the Healer, but with Durc and his descendants, going through time and into the future, instead of Ayla and her descendants. Though of course, Durc's descendants are also Ayla's descendants, just another line. Hope you enjoy. Please comment.
